SPC Retains DWI Approval for Potable Water Coating Systems 

Specialist Protective Coatings (SPC) has retained its Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI) approval, enabling the business to deliver specialist lining systems for critical potable water infrastructure across the UK.

The renewed approval covers the use of high-performance epoxy lining systems in potable water environments, including tanks, vessels, pipes, fittings and associated infrastructure. The certification confirms compliance with Regulation 31 requirements in England and Wales, together with equivalent approval under Scottish regulations, enabling SPC to operate across the UK on projects involving water for drinking, washing and food production. These approved lining systems provide a protective barrier for potable water infrastructure, helping to protect assets and extend their operational service life.

SPC provides surface preparation, coating application and inspection services for both new-build and refurbishment projects, in accordance with the requirements for potable water assets, using approved systems and controlled application processes. 

The renewal reflects SPC’s commitment to maintaining high standards in technical delivery and regulatory compliance. DWI approval is a mandatory requirement for contractors applying protective lining systems within potable water assets, and only a limited number of specialist contractors in the UK hold this accreditation.
